This month's feature car is an "In Violet" purple 440 powered GTX owned by Chris Akin of Oklahoma.  Here is what he writes about this nice looking 1970 muscle car:   After many years of searching I bought this 1970 GTX in August of 2000.  I had owned one before but sold it in 1985 and then always wanted another one.  A friend of mine handed me an Auto Trader magazine and said there was a 1970 GTX in it.  I went to look at the car on a Saturday and bought it on Monday.  The previous owner had just had it painted the factory FC7 "In-Violet" color and the 440-4bbl. motor and heavy duty 727 transmission were numbers matching so I had a good starting point.  I am the 7th owner so the GTX needed some TLC.  I found out through some research that the motor had been rebuilt back in 1989 and the car had only seen less than 1000 miles since then so the short block was in great shape.  I installed new 452 heads with the hardened seats, so crusin' would be no problem.  Also I installed a MP 474" 280 cam and a complete new six-pak setup, and new milodon 7 quart oil pan.  During this time the tranny was removed and rebuilt.  It now has a Cheetah Valve body and a 2800 stall converter.  I also installed a complete TTI exhaust system with 1 7/8" ceramic headers.  The ignition is a MP Electronic upgrade with Accel 8.8 mm wires so the plugs will light every time.  The underhood wiring is all new  as well as the interior.  To aid in better braking, I installed SSBC front discs, and to make sure the fuel was clean, a new fuel tank and lines were installed.  The GTX has 3.55 gears in the stock 8 3/4" rearend.  After three years of upgrades and improvements it is really fun to drive, even without power steering or power brakes.   Options on this 1970 GTX include the L31 hood mounted turn signals, N96 airgrabber hood, and the N85 clock and tack setup.  I still have a few more upgrades I would like to do with the GTX.  As anybody who ever has ever owned one of these muscle cars knows, you are never really done.
