Ron Knorr's 1970 EF8 GTX “Car of the Month”

Ron Knorr writes about his car's history with the following:

I purchased the car in late 2003 from Mark Ellis at Memory Lane Motors in Tukwila WA . I had the car shipped back to my home north of Pittsburgh PA. by Roads Scholars Transport. Mark had sold this car several times over the years, and I traced the ownership back to the mid 1990's. Here the trail goes cold. One previous owner, a Boeing aircraft employee, remembers the car sitting in the Boeing parking lot and being used as a daily driver in the mid to late 70's. If anyone from the Pacific Nortwest knows anything about this car, I would appreciate hearing from them. Supposedly, this GTX spent most of its life in the Seattle/Tacoma area.
The car is an EF8 Dark Ivy Green 2 dr. HT with white vinyl bucket seat interior. It has the 440/375 HP engine and TorqueFlite with column mounted shifter and has matching numbers on the motor and trans. Car is equipped with thw A36 Performance axle package, including 3.55 axle with sure grip, Hemi suspension, the big rad. and clutch fan. Car was also factory equipped with the light package, deluxe seat belts, buddy seat,
6-way man. driver's bucket, tinted glass, Air Grabber Hood, Power steering and the simulated wood grain steering wheel. Tunes were originally provided by the AM radio and a rear seat speaker. Other options included pedal dress up, rear defogger, and left and right chrome outside mirrors. Originally wheels were magnum 500s with F70-14 BSW tires.
My GTX has three differences from its original appearnce. The black hood stripe was added along with hood pins at a later date, and 15" Rallye wheels replace the Magnum 500's to make use of larger tires. Under the hood, the 440 has been treated to a complete overhaul by a previous owner, when the carb was replaced by an Edelbrock and the ignition updated to Direct Connection Electronic.
Car came with the original build sheet. A repro window sticker was made by Triple A Enterprises, and shows a total retail price of $4393.55.
I have wanted a GTX since I first laid eyes upon a new 1967 Turbine Bronze Hardtop at a local dealership at the age of 11. My father was buying a new Fury III sedan, and I just could not talk him into it. That same dealer had an orange Superbird when Dad was trading his '67 Fury on a new '70 Fury, and I couldn't talk him into that one either.
I had to wait until 2003, and went through several Corvettes and other specialty cars, before I got my childhood dream car. Better late than never.

There are 63 EF8 colored GTXs in the registry of which 42 are automatics, 20 4 speeds and one unknown. EF8 or Ivy Green Metallic was the third most popular color ordered in 1970 with EB5 Blue Fire Metallic and FK5 Deep Burnt Orange Metallic being first and second. Ron's GTX is one of only 9% or 643 with the black with white bucket seat interior.
