Car of the Month

.

Scott and Maria Marlow's two 1970 GTXs

The “car of the month” features a first. I'm actually featuring two 1970 GTXs, one automatic and one 4 speed, owned by Scott and Maria Marlow of Pennsylvania.

The first GTX featured is an unrestored original with matching numbers 440-4bbl engine with the standard 727 HD automatic transmission combo. The Marlow's have the original window sticker and the buildsheet which lists the GTX as an EF8 ivy green metallic painted car with black vinyl top and black bucket seat interior. Options ordered on this GTX were the A01 light package, power front disc brakes, the C21 center seat cushion/folding arm rest, a suregrip for the 3.23 geared 8 3/4” rearend, tinted glass all around, undercoating & hood insulation pad, AM radio with rear seat speaker, power steering, and 14” road wheels with F70x14 black side wall tires. This GTX came with the standard side stripe deleted. The Marlow's have the original buildsheet and window sticker as documentation.  The total list price for this 1970 GTX came to just over $4,230. Currently the odometer shows 49,750 miles. The Marlow's did upgrade the GTX with an airgrabber hood, a 6bbl setup and 4.11 gears. In June 2013 the Marlow's won “Dealer's Choice Performance Car” at the final Jarrett Dodge All Mopar Show competing against 70 other cars. In May 2014 the GTX earned 1st place “muscle car” at the Fred Bean's All Mopar Show.

The Marlow's bought their next 1970 GTX a few years ago. Their second GTX was a rotisserie restoration. It's painted the rare FM3 moulin rouge (pink) color accented with a white vinyl top and white side stripe and a white bucket seat interior. It was an original 4 bbl car but now has a 6bbl setup and intake added. Other options include the 18 spline manual 4 speed transmission shifted with the long handled pistol grip shifter that goes back to a Dana 60 rearend with 3.54 gears. This GTX is also optioned with the J81 black rear go-wing and the V21 black hood performance paint. The odometer reads only 44,549 miles. Unfortunately the Marlow's don't have the original buildsheet or fender tag to this GTX so they would appreciate any history or paperwork on this GTX to prove it is one of the 7 FM3 painted 1970 GTXs produced. If you have info on the FM3 GTX (RS23U0A153381) please contact them via email at: serioussam1967@aol.com. Thanks.
